Counselling Services in West Cornwall
"Counselling in West Cornwall for people from all walks of life, cultures and backgrounds."
You may be struggling with the day to day, anxiety, depression, grief, stress, relationships and friendships, cross cultural challenges, trying to answer ‘what’s the point?’, or just feeling a bit lost and not sure where to go from here. Whatever you are carrying, we can work through it together.
As a therapist and qualified counsellor in West Cornwall, I have worked with people from all different walks of life and cultural backgrounds including young people, veterans and adults navigating cross-cultural identity and belonging. This is also a safe and accepting space for LGBTQ+ individuals.

What is Outdoor Counselling?
Outdoor counselling, also known as walk and talk therapy, or nature therapy, takes place outside in nature instead of in a specific therapy room. Sessions can involve walking or simply sitting outside, and while some fitness is helpful, I want nature therapy to feel accessible for people of all abilities. Counselling in nature offers a different kind of therapeutic space, one that many people find easier to open up in.
What are the benefits of Outdoor Counselling?
For some people, sitting opposite a counsellor in an enclosed space with direct eye contact can feel quite intense. Walking or sitting beside someone outside can reduce the pressure and make it easier to navigate difficult topics. This can be helpful for anyone but particularly for neurodivergent individuals and young people. Being outside can be grounding, help you feel more present and research also shows that connecting with nature is linked to reduced stress, anxiety and depression.
Outdoor Counselling Along the Cornish Coastline
Offering counselling in West Cornwall gives us access to so many incredible outdoor spaces.
All outdoor walk and talk sessions are all held along the Cornish coastline around Hayle and Porthleven, including on the coast path, at local beaches and nature reserves.
Specific locations can be discussed and agreed upon booking.
What to Expect from an Outdoor Session
We walk at a comfortable pace that enables us to both comfortably hold a conversation. There are physical benefits to being outside but the aim of these sessions is to be therapeutic and not specifically as exercise.
Pace
While we aim to ensure sessions are accessible for everyone, some fitness is required to access places along the coastpath and it can be uneven in places.
Wheelchair accessible locations can be discussed.
Accessibility
Therapy sessions are 1 hour with a polite request to arrive 5 minutes early to accommodate any last minute changes to shoes or outerwear.
Timing
Warm and waterproof clothing and sturdy shoes are strongly advised. Sessions are confirmed 24 hours beforehand, taking into consideration weather and route conditions. I am first aid trained and carry a first aid kit to every session.
Preparation
A Note on Confidentiality: Please note that while every effort is made to ensure confidentiality during your therapy session, the nature of being outdoors is that we may pass other people using the space.
Counselling Room in West Cornwall
I offer in-person counselling sessions from a private room in Porthtowan. The full address and directions are provided upon booking confirmation.
The space is confidential, private, and designed to help you feel at ease from the moment you arrive. Sessions are 1 hour long.
Online Counselling
I also offer online counselling via secure video call. Online sessions are available to clients across Cornwall, the rest of the UK, and internationally, wherever you are in the world. If my approach resonates with you, distance is no barrier to getting support. This can be particularly relevant for those navigating cross-cultural challenges, expat life, or international transitions, areas I have personal and professional experience with.
Online sessions are 1 hour long.
Introductory sessions are offered at £30. Ongoing sessions are £45 per 1 hour session across all three formats: outdoor, counselling room, and online. Payment is accepted by bank transfer in advance of the session so as to not have financial matters take up your session time.
I ask for 24 hours notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or missed sessions may be charged at the full session rate.
If you have any questions about fees, please do not hesitate to ask.
